A vivid late-1970s to early-1980s African American family photograph album and related scrapbook material, with strong New York-area theater, soul, R&B, disco, and popular entertainment content. The lot consists of one small photo album with dog cover, together with a group of loose scrapbook / album pages that came with the album. The loose pages appear to have been part of the same family collection and contain photographs, programs, ticket stubs, clippings, and personal notes mounted to the pages. The material appears to center on a Black family or social circle in the New York / Long Island area, with family snapshots, school portraits, graduation and domestic photographs, handwritten love notes, and a remarkable group of theater and concert-going souvenirs. Highlights include material related to The Wiz, Ain't Misbehavin', Your Arms Too Short to Box with God, Whose Life Is It Anyway?, the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular, and performances by Stevie Wonder, The Isley Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fire, Teddy Pendergrass, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Temptations, Bill Withers, and The Ritchie Family. Several pages include ticket stubs, programs, Playbills, promotional images, and/or mounted clippings from the events. Condition is mixed, as shown.
