Majority of cases are physiological, however there is various pathological causes also. Genu valgum results in pain in knee ,thigh, calf and easy fatigability, predispose to degenerative joint diseases. The treatment of genu valgum deformity in skeletally mature children is corrective osteotomies.Wedge size calculation during osteotomy is an important step, as it can led to under or over correction of deformity. There are various methods for wedge size calculation like 1mm wedge 1 degree of correction, paper tracing method, computer software , and trigonometric method. The recent use of trigonometry for calculation of size of wedge has been shown to be an accurate , fast, replicable ,and simple method without requiring of use of complex software. Therefore we have embarked in this study to assess the accuracy of intra operative wedge size calculation by trigonometric method in medial closing wedge osteotomy, in patients of genu valgum.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 76 pp. Englisch.
