A Good copy. This is a trade catalogue advertising new models of the "Straight-Way Valve of the Wedge Gate Pattern for Steam and Water purposes" sold by the Crane Company of Chicago. The models of this valve are described as measuring between 2" and 24" and come in the following varieties: "screwed, flanged and hub ends; with stationary stem; with outside screw and yoke; with bevel and spur gearing; with gearing and bypass relief; [and] with indicator." Most, if not all, of the advertised valves depicted herein have an accompanying printed illustration rendered in meticulous detail and corresponding specifications and prices. In 1855, Richard Teller Crane (1832-1912) and his brother, Charles Crane, founded R. T. Crane & Bro. which originally specialized in the manufacture and sale of brass goods and plumbing supplies. The company was later renamed as the Crane Co. and expanded its product line over the years. Based in Chicago, the Crane Co. became a prominent manufacturer and seller of pipe and cast-iron supplies that were used in many of the city's public buildings and private residences. The Crane Co. is still in business to this day and has since ventured into the aerospace industry.
