Features Collyer's two volumes bound within a single book with both "Lectures on Scripture Facts" (i.e. Volume I) and "Lectures on Scripture Prophecy" (i.e. Volume II) and paginated as: [6], i-xxiv, 29-307, [1], i-viii, 9-252. Original full calf leather binding, front and rear joints splitting but with boards still tenuously attached, boards heavily scuffed with corners well worn, some staining to front board, spine ends worn with strong surface scuffing lengthwise, several patches of spine leather worn to backstrip at lower half, spine decorated with narrow gilt stamped bands as well as remnant of black title label. Pencil scribbling and signatures on front pastedown; missing at least a front free endpaper and preliminary advertising leaf; first three leaves (i.e. six pages) present are a publisher Grigg & Elliot's title catalogue; top corners of pages 187-204 (still within Vol. I) are creased; remnant of rear flyleaf present. Text otherwise collates as complete with mild to occasionally moderate foxing upon interior leaves. Already preaching at the young age of 18 at a small chapel in Peckham, London, William Bengo Collyer (1782-1854) was a Congregational minister, hymnist, and fairly prolific author with his "Lectures" series comprised of books on Scripture facts, prophecy, miracles, parables, doctrines, and duties. Should be re-cased but still a fair reading copy of an uncommon American edition.

Neatly written in an early hand are also a note beside Clagett's name on the title page, a small note on p268, and a couple of sums on the back pastedown. The upper corner of the front free endpaper is clipped: unaffected by this is a 1770 gift inscription in Latin. Octavo, in the original boards, re-covered in recent full calf with five raised bands ruled in gilt, with a red lettering piece. Exceptional copy of a scarce book.
