Añadir al carritoSoftcover. Condición: Near Fine. Two volumes. 12mos. (one is 3.75" x 5.75"; the other is very slight smaller at 3.5" x 5.5"). [34]; [40]pp. Full deacon skin calf over flexible card covers. Each book uses perhaps a little more than half of the pages, and accounts mostly for the sales and delivery of deacon skin calf hides and veal over the course of two years, plus a few peripheral accounts. Deacon skin is the very soft skin of a very young calf, generally under eight pounds and no more than four days old. They were used in the manufacture of shoes and gloves, and presumably, as in this case, for book bindings.

His weekly report included daily logs, poems, the births and deaths of those aboard, and information on the various islands that the ship passed, such as Trinidad and the Canaries. The paper also served as a way to air personal grievance with articles on the careless use of matches by the crew and children onboard and grievances; "If the person who kindly took the pea soup out of the gallery on Tuesday last putting dirty water in its place. can suggest any recipe better suited to his taste, the owners will in future accordingly alter its preparations" (p. 68).
