Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: VG-. 1st ed. 189 pp. ex-Leeds public libraries with their not unattractive heraldic lib.plate to front pastedown, discard stamp on end-paper, faint circular impressed stamp to t.p. and on several other pages, hardly offensive however, black loan sheet to rear pastedown, no other library markings internally and otherwise clean and unmarked, frotn gutter incipiently opening but firm, top edge dust darkened. Red leather library bound covers clean but extremities and joints rubbed, paneled spine has gilt title, pub .location and date plus a gilt library number. A small Leeds binder's label bottom front pastedown confirms this as a library binding I think. Extraordinarily scarce now, could not locate any other copies for sale on web. Nor could I find a clue to author, BL and other catalogues not providing one. Essays I.and II. are surprisingly sophisticated examinations of, in I. the 'two cultures' phenomenon and in II. the relationships between ordinary and scientific language, including discussion of mathematics and logic. Despite being ex-lib. the library marking is quite tolerable.
