Not located in "Dodgson at Auction" David George Ritchie (1853-1903) was a Scottish philosopher who was a fellow of Jesus College, Oxford before becoming a tutor at Balliol College. in 1894 he left Oxford having been elected Professor of Logic and Metaphysics at St. Andrews. The first section "is a serious attempt to popularize formal logic and accuracy of thought . . . there are plenty of quaint examples, answers and solutions" (Williams, Madan, Green). The appendix is addressed to teachers, and offers a preview of the second and third parts, which were never completed.
