Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good Minus. 1st Edition. Stated First Printing. Once listed, this will be the Only signed copy of this book for sale anywhere on the Internet. It is signed by the author Max Gunther. The signed inscription on the first front end paper reads: 'To two favorite classmates-- Barbara & Chick Kracht. Best wishes-- Max Gunther.' There is also a separate letter on Good Housekeeping stationary to Mr. Al Kracht from a Thomas Koopman ('Here is a copy of The Split-Level Trap which I promised you'). Al Kracht wrote a book titled Limericks New & Naughty. You can see the covers of this book in the photos provided. They are very clean. The gilt lettering on the spine is still quite bright. The top page edge is a reddish orange. The page edges are very clean. The covers corners and edges are in good shape. The top edge of the spine has a little crinkling. The book is solidly bound from cover to cover. I'm not seeing any binding issues. The pages are very clean. I'm not finding any soiling. I'm not seeing any conspicuous creasing. There is a vague semi-crease at the very tip of the bottom corner of some of the pages, quite minor. There are no markings in the book. No attachments of any kind. And the author's signed inscription is the only writing to be found anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It's in pretty nice shape. It has a small loss off the top edge and bottom edge at the juncture of the front and spine, also a sliver of loss at the bottom edge of the spine. There's a tiny closed tear off the top edge of the rear cover, also a light scratch on the rear cover. The spine is slightly faded. The flaps are in very good condition. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I've had it in a fitted protective cover for as long as I've owned the book. I removed it to better examine the jacket. The jacket will be fitted with a new protective cover after the photos are scanned. From the dust jacket: 'Working with the cooperation of Columbia University and the states of New Jersey and New York, Dr. and Mrs. Gordon completed one of the most searching analyses of American suburban life ever attempted. They found that there is a certain type of suburb that seems to abound in tension. Everything in the suburbs from crabgrass to high taxes plays a role in emotional disorders. But the Gordon's went even further-- they found which suburbanites are most likely to have emotional problems, they found that these suburbanites-under-stress can be helped-- before they reach the point of breakdown. The Split-Level Trap, prepared in collaboration with Max Gunther, is the first report to the general public on the Gordons' findings. In writing this book, the authors hope to warn, and to help, the suburbanites of America. But everyone, whether he lives in a suburb or elsewhere, will be fascinated with this startling study.' Max Gunther was an Anglo-American journalist and writer. He was the author of 26 books, including his investment best-seller, The Zurich Axioms. Born in England, Gunther moved to the United States at the age of 11 after his father, Franz Heinrich (Frank Henry) became the manager of the New York branch of a leading Swiss bank, Schweizerischer Bankverein (Swiss Bank Corporation or SBC). In 1998, the bank was merged with Union Bank of Switzerland to form UBS, the second largest wealth management organization in the world and the second largest bank in Europe. Gunther's book, The Zurich Axioms is largely based on his father's trading advice. Gunther graduated from Princeton University in 1949 and served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1951. He worked at Business Week magazine from 1951 to 1955 and during the following two years he was the contributing editor for Time Magazine. He also contributed to Playboy, True, Reader's Digest, TV Guide, McCall's, and Saturday Evening Post. He lived most of his adult live in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Inscribed by Author(s).
