"This catalogue is the third in a series devoted to selections from the Museum's holdings. As such, it is not meant to be a comprehensive survey of the graphic arts since 1960, but rather a document of our collection of recent prints. This collection witnesses an attempt to choose works of quality, rather than works which in total would form a statistically representative sample of the output of the Sixties and Seventies. Diametric opinions on the quality of various works were often expressed by the several members of the staff responsible for the selection process; however, at least one of us fervently admired and spoke for each of the prints that appear here. Obviously, we make no claim of omniscience." (dj) The exhibition addresses 66 pieces. The catalogue includes sizable bios for the dozens of artists represented.
