Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. First American Edition. In collaboration with Bernard Paillard, Evelyne Burguiere, Claude Capulier, Suzanne de Lusignan, and Julia Verone, and translated from the French by Peter Green. Stated First American Edition. Published in New York Doubleday Pantheon, 1971. The book is about a purported white-slavery-for-prostitution scandal, an anti-Semitic trope that kicked up in several closely related French villages claiming that Jewish women customers in Jewish women-owned dress-shops were being drugged and then sold off by Jewish (men) brokers into (White) sexual slavery. Even after the alleged ring conspiracy was debunked, the narrative shifted or split into mini-tropes and did not at all die with the absence of empirical evidence to support it, just as theories of cognitive dissonance of Leon Festinger and associates would have it. Bound in black cloth over boards, lightly sunned along top edge of front board. Sharp and distinct gilt lettering to spine, copper publisher's logo there. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, diagonal crimp to front inner flap, evenly sunned on rear panel, very short, closed tear at bottom tip. The author was Director of Research Activities for a number of years at the Center for the Study of Mass Communications in Paris, France. From the personal library of Gershon Legman as conveyed to me through Judith Legman, his widow. 276 pp. including some bibliographic references.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
