A pair of large double page engraved maps of the county of Roxburgh (map size: 66.5 x 92 cm overall size: 69.5 x 99 cm) with original outline colour, accurately engraved, supplied with a mileage scale,explanation table, a large compass star, degrees of latitude and longitude, an impressive title and a small elegant cartouche of Jedburgh Abbey. Places depicted include Kelso, Jedburgh, New Castletoun, and Hawick. In good condition. As issued in his 1832 'Atlas of Scotland'. John Thomson produced the first large scale atlas of Scotland since Blaeu in the 17th century.
