George Rosen, emeritus professor of economics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, an author and a book review editor for the journal Economic Development and Cultural Change. He has taught at Jilin University and the Johns Hopkins-Nanking program in China, has done extensive economic research in India, and has been affiliated with the U.S. State Department, the MIT Center for International Studies, the RAND Corporation, and the Asian Development Bank. A prolific writer, I have for sale here six of his books which were written between 1958 and 1996. They came from the library of a Sam and Helen Liskov of Bridgeport Ct. who were clearly very close friends of his. He inscribed all six books to them. The entire cost of the six books is $145.00. I'm going to charge a total of $7.00 to ship them. I'm not going to provide detailed descriptions of the condition of the books. But I can say that they are all at the very least in Very Good condition. Both the covers and the interiors of all the books look very clean. I didn't see any writing/underlining, etc. on any of the pages of any of the books. I didn't see any markings. They don't appear to have any creases or dogeared pages. Three of the books have dust jackets. Only one has any wear to speak of, a tear and tiny chip near the spine. None of the three are price-clipped. I should have said that all six books are hardcovers. One of the other books was very likely issued without a dust jacket. All of the books appear to be First editions (NAP). Here are the titles: 1) Industrial Change in India, Industrial Growth, Capital Requirements, and Technological Change, 1937-1955, published in 1958 by Free Press, Glencoe, Illinois. This book was part of The Center for International Studies, Massachusetts Institute Of Technology. 2) Democracy & Economic Change In India (w/dj), published in 1966 by University California Press. 3) Present Society in a Changing Economy: Comparative Development in South East Asia and India, (w/dj), published in 1975 by the University of Illinois Press. 4) Decision- Making Chicago- Style: The Genesis Of A University Of Illinois Campus, (w/dj), published in 1980 by the University of Illinois Press. 5) Western Economists And Eastern Societies: Agents of Change in South Asia, 1950-1970, published in 1985 by The Johns Hopkins University Press, and finally 6) Economic Development in Asia, published in 1996 by Avebury.
