Roma, 1846. 32mo (3.5 x 4.5 inches), hand colored vignette title page depicting "Saltarello", a traditional dance, 30 hand colored plates bound concertina-style in its original red cloth boards within a green cloth slipcase. Each plate shows a traditional character defined by their profession or provenance, such as the salad vendor, the woodcutter or the woman from Tivoli.
