Inscribed 'but to approx 45,000 words' and 'all second serial and book rights available' to the front pastedown, indicating the author was preparing for a book or a serial publication of this work following this printed appearance in 'The Boy's Friend'. The author has shortened the work, and has given it to his literary agent hence the c/o Mr John Farquharson to the front pastedown.The corrections involve the removal of many terms and some changes, for example 'from which' instead of 'that many' to page 3 and 'Royal CANADIAN Mounted Police' to page 7.
