Incomplete set: volume 2 and 3 (of three), 304+320 pp., foxed, but otherwise in good condition. NB: the binding of the third volume states it concerns volume 1, but it concerns volume 3. The cover was designed by Jan Bertus Heukelom. Couperus was not fond of the design. In a letter to the publisher he asked to have the lettering changed to a regular font ("Toe, laat u dat "spijkerschrift" van het titelblad veranderen in eenvoudige letter! Ik ben helemaal niet kubistisch!!"). The second and third volume were published after Couperus' death. The third volume was suggested and compiled by Couperus' wife Elisabeth Couperus-Baud. Het tussenblad met een rood botanisch versierinkje (het vierde blad van het katern, p. 7/8) ontbreekt. Voorin en achterin wat roest. Matig exemplaar van deze tweede publikatie van Couperus, die nog een onbekende jongeling was. Deze gedichten en verhalen bezingen de klassieke oudheid en romantisch Italië. VV 108.

Ruggen wat verbruind, overstekende randen niet helemaal gaaf. Uit deel 1 is een exlibris verwijderd, maar ook de helft van de franse titel (zonder tekstverlies; vraag een foto). Dit deel heeft niet het veel voorkomende Ter Recensie-stempel op het omslag. Deel 3 is voorin roestspikkelig. Deel 2 is in zeer nette staat. Het eerste deel van Proza werd geredigeerd door Couperus zelf, maar hij overleed vlak voor de verschijning. De twee latere delen werden samengesteld door zijn weduwe. Deze uitgave van nog ongebundelde feuilletons en andere prozastukken bestaat in leder, linnen en ingenaaid in dik, zacht omslagpapier met reliëf; in de jaren dertig werd ook een halflinnen band gebruikt. Deze ingenaaide versie wordt zelden als complete set gevonden. We kunnen zo ook een verschil ontwaren tussen het derde en de andere delen: voor het deelnummer op de voorkant is een ander lettertype gehanteerd. Op deel 1 en 2 is een getekende spinnenletter gebruikt die bij de expressionistische beblikseming van het omslag past, maar op deel 3 staat een ronde letter, misschien een bestaand type uit de zetterij, of door een andere ontwerper dan Heukelom getekend.

Couperus' tweede boek, gedichten en verhalen over azuren zalen en fluiten vol trillend toongetoover. Ruggen wat verschoten (deel 3 meer dan de andere twee), leer heeft enkele kleine krasjes, beetje roest in het binnenwerk. Helaas werd voor deze luxe-editie een zeer kwetsbare ledersoort gebruikt, waardoor perfecte sets eigenlijk niet bestaan. Luxe-editie ('Weelde-uitgave') in heelleder met fraaie art-decobandstempeling. VV 320,4: 'Het aantal luxe-exemplaren staat niet vast, maar zal niet veel meer dan enkele tientallen zijn geweest'.
