Einband leicht bestossen, papierbedingt gebräunt. - It is not the aim of this study to answer the question: Is social-scientific knowledge possible? Psychologists, sociologists, anthropologists, economists, political scientists, and historians have already shown that it is. Instead, we are asking: What is meant by social-scientific knowledge and how is it acquired? Internal criticism will be presented when the means some social scientists select seem to contradict their own aims. But it should be understood that there is no presumption here that a philosopher is placing the behavioral disciplines on trial. What is needed is a mirror in which the practitioners of the various behavioral disciplines can see themselves in order to ascertain whether or not they are operating in accordance with the rules by which the scientific game is played. Accordingly, we shall attempt to show that social-scientific analyses and natural-scientific analyses are separable but congruent modes of reflective inquiry. In no sense should this be taken to be an effort to force social-scientific inquiry to imitate natural-scientific inquiry. Sprache: Englisch Gewicht in Gramm: 550.
