Dark brown cloth boards with gilt lettering on spine and a flagstick on cover. Condition: Very Good, First Edition. Top and bottom of spine, bottom edges of cover and all four corners worn. He is part of the World Golf Hall of Fame.With unclipped dustwrapper. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally smart, with slight shelfwear and bumping to head and tail of spine. Cloth and gilt to spine have slightly darkened. Signed by a previous owner to front pastedown, dated 1954. Dustwrapper is sound with chipping and closed tears to spine and extremities, as well as slight puncture marks. Unclipped. Slight sunning to spine of wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. MInor faint spotting to fore edge, affecting only the occasional page, particularly to first and last few leaves. Very Good. None (ilustrador). book.

Widely credited with creating the vocation of Golf Writing, Darwin was a grandson of the British naturalist Charles Darwin, a world-class amateur golfer, and is a member of the World Golf Hall of…Fame. "He played the game at an excellent level himself well into middle age, and competed in The Amateur Championship on 26 occasions across five decades between 1898 and 1935, with his best results being semi-final appearances in 1909 and 1921. In 1922, while in the United States to report on the first Walker Cup amateur team match between Britain and Ireland and the U.S., and also appointed as non-playing captain, Darwin was pressed into service at the last minute as a player, when one of the British team members, Robert Harris, was unable to play. He lost his team match, but won his singles match. He was Captain of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in 1934, and was President of the Golf Club Managers' Association (then the Association of Golf Club Secretaries) from 1933 to 1934 and then again from 1955 to 1958." - wiki Square tight binding.
