With a glimpse into post-war American prosperity, the album includes images of genial employees proudly posing both on the sales floor and in the back offices of a D.P. Harris Manufacturing Co. distribution facility of their most popular bicycle brand, Rollfast. Featured are some of the brand's best-selling models, including the Black Beauty, the Royal Special #50, and a classic step-through frame."Rollfast bicycles have a long and complex history that has close ties with two different companies. The D.P. Harris Hardware and Manufacturing Company originated the name in the 1890?s, and later teamed up with the H.P. Snyder Manufacturing Company in the early 1900?s. Snyder was the primary manufacturer of the bicycles, while Harris provided some of the parts and marketed them. During the Great Depression, Snyder began manufacturing bicycles for other retailers such as Montgomery Ward who sold them under the Hawthorne name. Some sought after Snyder built Rollfast bicycles are the V-200 model and the Hopalong Cassidy bicycles. Snyder built Rollfast bicycles well into the 1970?s. ".

Añadir al carrito[Adelaide, Unknown Photographer], 1894. An original gelatin silver photograph (visible image size 395 × 540 mm), mounted, with a captioned mat, and behind glass with gilt fillets in a vintage carved wooden frame (external dimensions 645 × 800 mm, with a metal title-label screwed to the front of the top edge). The photograph is a little silvered-out and lightly foxed; the mount has slight surface loss to silverfish and a few tiny marks; gilt fillets a little chipped; the frame is a little rubbed; overall, an impressive presentation. The members of the club are posed in a studio setting behind two bicycles (lying down with front wheels crossed, the club flag draped over them). All 31 of those featured in the photograph are identified: not least are J. Michie MB (Honorary Surgeon), and Rev. J. Sunter BA (Vice-President). The Fauser family are well-represented: there's J. Fauser (Vice-Captain), U. Fauser, and his wife, Mrs U. Fauser. She is front and centre behind the bikes, along with Miss E.A. Manners, resplendent in their smart leather riding gloves.

Añadir al carritoPhotograph. Condición: Fair. Format is approximately 5.25 inches by 8.5 inches for the backing and the image is approximately 4.5 inches by 7 inches. Format is a card backing with photograph affixed to it. Photograph is partially faded and chipped and scuffed. Ink notation on the back reads "Col. B. R. Ross ." Some wear and soiling front and back. An expert in bicycles might be able to identify the model and then estimate the time frame of the picture more closely. It may also be possible to identify some of the houses in the background or the lane the Col. and his bicycle are on, assuming that this was taken in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Colonel Burton R. Ross, (1845-1913) was a military instructor of the High School Cadet Regiment for 26 years . Col. Ross was for many years connected with the District of Columbia National Guard. He was at one time Lieutenant Colonel of the First Regiment. He was mentioned and commended in official Federal Government reports, primarily for his contributions to the design and conduct of military training and exercises held within the District of Columbia. There is no information as to the photographer or date, but based upon uniform and the notation on the back, it has been estimated to have been taken in the first few years of the 20th century. From its earliest days, the D.C. National Guard has remained ready to accept the call to protect the United States, participating in the Creek War, Seminole Wars and Spanish-American War. In 1898, the D.C's 1st Volunteer Infantry fought alongside the United States Volunteers during the War, where they earned credit for the Santiago Campaign. The 1st DC Volunteer Infantry was commanded by George Herbert Harries, who left his position as commander of the DC National Guard and accepted reduction in rank to colonel so he could lead the regiment in Cuba. Presumed to be a unique copy, but could be one of multiple originals.
