Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: New. Written specifically for academic librarians and library administrators, this book identifies the myriad benefits of peer-assisted learning, exploring how the implementation of peer-assisted learning benefits information literacy instruction, cocurricular outreach, and reference services. In this era of accountability-and stretched budgets-in higher education, librarians need to make instructional programming both highly effective and sustainable. Peer-assisted learning is a methodology that has long been accepted in teaching but is relatively new as applied to academic library instruction, outreach, and reference. This book brings together the most innovative applications of peer-assisted learning in these contexts, explaining specific ways to apply peer-assisted learning in a variety of academic library settings for maximum benefit. This guidebook begins with an extensive literature review of the theoretical underpinnings of peer-assisted learning and the various benefits these programs can provide academic librarians and peer mentors. The bulk of the book's content is organized into three sections that address the subjects of information literacy instruction, cocurricular outreach, and reference services separately. Each section showcases real-world examples of peer-assisted learning at a variety of academic institutions. Through these case studies, readers can fully understand the development, implementation, and assessment of a peer-assisted learning program, and librarians and administrators will see the practical benefits of enriching the experiences of student employees. Practitioners will receive inspiration and guidance through chapters that discuss training activities, identify lessons learned, and explain the implications for further research.

The key to success is having a sound process Forum(TM) is a proven process that represents best practices for maximizing the benefits and minimizing the risks of forums. Focus Forum is different than other forum processes in several ways. First, Focus Forum is designed specifically for entrepreneurs. Focus Forums by design move very fast, so members get more done in the same amount of time as members in other types of forum. As a result, Focus Forum provides the highest possible value and benefit for members. And finally, Focus Forums are self-run - they rely on the mutual commitment and responsibility of all members to make the forum work. The Process of Focus Forum is a guidebook for building and maintaining an effective forum. It outlines a simple yet powerful method that can be followed by any forum, including: members' roles and responsibilities; ground rules for building mutual respect, commitment, trust and confidentiality; the structure and format of forum meetings; areas to avoid in order to prevent potential problems; and ways to leverage your forum experience to maximize your personal and professional success.'.

Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Neuware -This book investigates the value of peer assisted learning through interactive technologies for foreign language learners. It is a compilation of six research projects. Two of these took place in Higher Education with students learning English as a Second Language. The value of one-way peer tutoring through online instant communication was assessed. Findings showed that there was a great deal of social and academic benefit for international students. The remaining four projects linked Scottish schools with schools in Spain, France and Germany. The potential of reciprocal peer tutoring through online discussion boards was evaluated. In pairs, foreign language learners were expected to write messages on topics aligned to their respective curricula. They were also to provide feedback to each other. In performance in the foreign language statistically significant gains resulted. However, content analysis showed this did not develop in a linear fashion. Participants were overwhelmingly positive about their experiences. This method of computerised peer learning between countries has great potential, for both foreign language learning and cultural exchange.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 348 pp. Englisch.
