Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. War and Peace, Count Leo Tolstoy. Random House, Modern Library, Translated by Constanc Garnett. War and Peace is G1 (the first novel of 291 titles) in the New York Modern Library Editions. Copywright, edition and printing dates are not provided. Estimated publication is after 1931 (first edition) and before 1943 based on owner's names and date written on the first non-cover page, "Aron and Grace Bullock, 1943." The dust jacket is unclipped with price $1.45. there are multiple tears that have been repaired with tape. Hardback with 1,146 pages that are unmarked and tight. Page 251 has a lower right corner that was not properly. Often called the greatest novel ever written, War and Peace is at once an epic of the Napoleonic Wars, a philosophical study. War and Peace is epic in scale. It is regarded as one of the central works of world literature. Considered Tolstoy's finest literary achievement. it delineates in graphic detail events surrounding the French invasion of Russia, and the impact of the Napoleonic era on Tsarist society, as seen through the eyes of five Russian aristocratic families. Portions of an earlier version of the novel, were serialized in the magazine The Russian Messenger between 1865 and 1867. The novel was first published in its entirety in 1869. Newsweek in 2009 ranked it first in its list of the Top 100 Books. Tolstoy said that it is "not a novel, even less is it a poem, and still less a historical chronicle". Large sections of the work, especially in the later chapters, are philosophical discussion. He went on to elaborate that the best Russian literature does not conform to standards.

No exact date can be determined without the DJ. Edition/Printing not stated. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Good +; slight toning to spine; light shelfwear to head, tail, and tips. No DJ. Gray/green cloth boards and spine with gilt title in green shadowbox on the spine. Modern man on spine and front board. 1136 pp 8vo. War and Peace centers broadly on Napoleon's invasion of Russia in 1812 and follows three of the best-known characters in literature: Pierre Bezukhov, the illegitimate son of a count who is fighting for his inheritance and yearning for spiritual fulfillment; Prince Andrei Bolkonsky, who leaves behind his family to fight in the war against Napoleon; and Natasha Rostov, the beautiful young daughter of a nobleman, who intrigues both men. As Napoleon's army invades, Tolstoy vividly follows characters from diverse backgrounds?peasants and nobility, civilians and soldiers?as they struggle with the problems unique to their era, their history, and their culture. And as the novel progresses, these characters transcend their specificity, becoming some of the most moving?and human?figures in world literature. A clean very presentable copy.
