Exemplar com manchas de humidade e falhas de papel no canto inferior junto ao corte das folhas, principalmente nas de anterrosto e rosto e etiqueta da «Colección de José de Soto y Molina» no verso da pasta anterior. 1.ª Edição. O poema é introduzido por um texto do próprio autor nas primeiras páginas não numeradas, em que discorre sobre a situação político-militar da Espanha e da sua visão acerca do estado de Guerra e de Paz. Segue-se o canto heróico dirigido a Manuel de Godoy (Badajoz, 1767 ? Paris, 1851), conhecido por Príncipe da Paz devido ao seu papel fulcral no acordo de paz firmado na Basileia (Suíça) em 1795, na sequência da guerra aberta entre Espanha e França desde 1793. O Príncipe da Paz está também ligado à Guerra das Laranjas ? uma guerra de curta duração que resultou na conquista espanhola da Praça-forte de Olivença a Portugal (questão que ainda hoje tem desdobramentos diplomáticos). Juan Pablo Forner (Mérida, 1756 ? Madrid, 1797) foi um dos principais polemistas literários do século XVIII em Espanha. A sua obra era em grande parte satírica, sendo exemplos de destaque «Sátira contra los abusos introducidos en la poesía castellana» e «El asno erudito».
