This is a collection of two volumes of the publication "ONCE A WEEK" for the year 1868: January to June, 1868 (6 issues) and July to December, 1868 (6 issues). The volumes contain illustrations throughout, including many that are full-page and span two pages. Published by Bradbury, Evans and Co. in London. Edited by E.S. Dallas. Each volume contains a list of Contents at the front. Within the July-December volume is an article titled "Notes on Parrots" that references CHARLES DARWIN and his recently published work "The Variation of Animals and Plants under Domestication." Also in this volume is an article titled "The Presidential Candidates" that references ULYSSES S. GRANT. The issues contain works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and songs. Bound in three-quarter leather with gilt lettering on the spines, and gilt accents on the covers and spines. Condition: There are splits to the leather along the edges of the spines where they meet the covers resulting in the front cover of the July-Dec being very shaky. Nice interiors - the pages are lightly age-toned and clean with only a few instances where a name has been written on a front cover. Tanning to the front and rear end papers and pastedowns. The rear end paper in July-Dec is creased at the outer half. Overall in Good- condition due to the state of the front hinge of the July-Dec volume.
