Contains 452 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring between 1" x 1" and 5" x 7" with captions. Very good album with rubbing and chipped corners with near fine photographs. A p…hoto album kept by a young woman in Ohio beginning in 1907 through 1911. Much of the early album shows photos of the woman's home life with images of their family home, farm, the local infirmary, and the cemetery. Many of the photos are portraits of the women in the family posed on the farm, sitting on the porch, and in fashionable hats. The family also took vacations around Ohio including the Gorge National Park, Long Lake, and Perkins Park. They celebrated Labor Day, Decoration Day, and the 4th of July with images of women posed for photos smiling and in fancy dresses. One section of photos shows a group of women happily posing around a new car in 1908. Many of the photos are taken on a farm in Randolph, Ohio showing horses ploughing fields, "blackberrying," and grooming the horses. One photo from 1910 shows a man taking a photo of a woman, other photos from this section shows young men and women posed in a forest and on train tracks. Ships are seen on Lake Erie as well as people on the beach at Cedar Point. At Cedar Point they enjoyed hiking, visiting friends, and watching a parade with a marching band. A section of photos from 1911 shows a group of women on a lakeside vacation with one photo showing the women raising wine glasses in a toast. Another photo shows the women cheekily posed next to a danger notice. The album ends with a collection of photo strip style portraits of women. A nice collection of vernacular photographs kept by an Ohio woman.
