The historical pageant held in 1912 in Philadelphia commemorated the War of 1812 and the 125th anniversary of the framing of the Constitution of the United States. The pageant was presented daily from Oct. 7 through Oct. 12, 1912, on the grounds of Belmont Mansion. Includes photographs of people involved in planning the pageant including Mayor Rudolph Blankenburg; "Master of the Dances" Philadelphia resident Albert W. Newman, who was a member of the imperial Society Master of Dancing in London and the author of several books on contemporary dances; Charles M. Lefferts "Authority on Military Subjects"; a large group of women sewing costumes in Independence Hall; and other photographs of people preparing for the pageant. Scarce. In Good+ Condition: closed 2-cm. tear from upper edge of front cover; same from upper edge of back cover; corners of back cover lightly creased; cover is lightly rubbed and soiled; back cover is scraped; pages are clean and solid.
