Añadir al carritoALL UK PARCELS SENT TRACKED! ALL OVERSEAS PARCELS SENT AIRMAIL, TRACKED! (S/hand, Hardcover, 1876). 1876 1st edition. Large 8vo (160 x 253mm). Ppxiv,324. Frontispiece (an actual tipped-in photograph) portrait & 6 engraved plates. Half green morocco, gilt title & angling emblems on spine, pebbled cloth boards, all edges gilt, marbled end-papers. Small bookplate of Charles B. Wood (Bibliotheca Salmo Salar), author's compliments slip tipped in. Small piece torn from rear end-paper, minor tanning. Generally a very good copy of the scarce large paper edition. "The contrast between these two editions is striking; the large-paper is fully two inches taller and nearly that much deeper; also it is thicker because it is printed on a heavier and better grade of paper. Also, the frontispiece photos of the author are different; in the large-paper he is shown seated with his salmon rod, in the regular copy he is shown head and shoulders only. The large-paper edition is said to have been limited to fifty copies." (Wood). .

Wood engraved plates and text illustrations by Clement Burlison, engraved by Edmund Evans. 1 vols. Royal 8vo. The finely bound privately printed first edition of Henderson's 'My Life as an Angler'. The contents were altered for the published edition. [WITH] Autograph Letter Signed to William Henderson from Thomas Satchell (Publisher). 4pp. 5"x 8", London Institution, Finsbury Circus, London: August 15, 1879. Regarding matters having to do with publication of Henderson's "My Life as an Angler." The letter reads in part: "You must not think that I am becoming dubious of the success of 'My Life as an Angler' (when it comes out early next month) because I am anxious to place a portion of the edition, which my son is producing, on the American market. I have still as much faith as ever in this book, and probably no other person has read it so many times over, but this step would probably eliminate the chance of failure, and however great my faith, I cannot close my eyes to possibility of failure with the present condition of things at home. The advisability of this procedure.arises solely from the general depression and scarcity of spending money which obtains here at the present time." There follow specific details as to size of the 1879 (published) edition, as well as details on bindings and illustrations. A SPLENDID VOLUME, WITH A NOTABLE LETTER FROM SATCHELL TO THE AUTHOR.
