Añadir al carritoHardback. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good. Reprint. 1933. Reprint. xxv, 179pp. and 24 black and white illustrations. Alex Morrison was a golf instructor from the 1920's to the 1950's, and was one of the first to use high-speed photographs to analyze golf swings from all possible angles. He writes in his Author's Note at the start of the book: " "This is not 'just another golf book.' The material that I present here is entirely original and describes completely for the first time the only method of playing golf that is based on the inescapable mechanical and anatomical factors that govern the execution of a successful shot. I have made the only complete analysis of the golf swing; consequently, I am able to state positively - and to prove - exactly what takes place in the process of projecting a ball in a desired flight." The book is bound in the original brown patterend canvas cloth covered boards with dark brown titling on the spine and front board. The book is in excellent condition and the contents are tight and clean with some foxing on the fore edge of the text block. On some pages the foxing has seeped a little way into the fore margin. There is no inscription. The unclipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with soiling and some staining. Pieces are missing from the corners, spine ends and top edge, and a 2" x 3/4" piece is missing from near the bottom of the rear spine edge. There are also several tears on the edges, some with surrounding creases. A previous owner has carried out repairs to the missing pieces and tears using large pieces of white paper on the reverse of the wrapper. Glue stains from the repairs are visible on the reverse and parts of the front of the wrapper.

Añadir al carritoCloth. Condición: Near Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Good Plus. Illustrated with drawings and photographs. 187 pages. Introduction by Bernard Darwin (not included in the US editions). Morrison was known in America as "the Wizard of Golf Instructors" and particularly regarding the golf swing. As Darwin wrote in the Introduction to this British edition: "He has made a life-long study of the golfing swing, practically, anatomically, photographically and in every other conceivable way." A New Way to Better Golf was the most widely printed instructional until Ben Hogan's Five Lessons. The original brown cloth covers and spine are clean, bright, and unmarked, silver lettering complete and bright, all corners sharp. Original endpapers, hinges tight and complete, no bookplate or former owner's name, no notes, foxing or markings of any kind. Very uncommon in this clean condition as many of Morrison's readers studied their copy of the book continually. The uncommon dust jacket is protected in mylar. Interesting to note that the dust jacket proclaims a "New Edition of the Classic of the Game" but this book is identical to prior editions. I believe this is the final printing of A New Way to Better Golf. NOTE: I have a quantity of original material from Alex Morrison's estate: photographs, original writings, unpublished manuscripts, and boxes of clippings he retained throughout his career. Please contact Antiquarian Golf should you have serious interest in this material from Alex J. Morrison. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
