Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Very Good. 12mo. Paperback, 144 p.p. Light wear to joints and edges, age toning to edges of pages, creasing to upper corner of front cover, a few scuffs to rear. Mutiny For the Cause is the savage and tragic story of the mutiny of the Connaught Rangers, stationed in the Punjab in 1920. Nicknamed The Devil's Own, the regiment had a fine tradition of service and victory in the name of the British Crown. But when rumours reached them from Ireland of the outrages committed by the Black and Tans, they marched into the guardroom and announced "In protest against British atrocities in ireland we refuse to soldier any longer in the name of the King.".

'The rising was sparked off by accounts which the men had received from home of atrocities committed against their families by the Black and Tans. As with any revolt there were other discontents involved, but in the main it was the news from Ireland which caused the mutineers to take such drastic action - action which in turn was brutally and hypocritically suppressed by the military authorities faced with a situation almost unparalleled in the annals of the British Army.'
