In the same year, he oversaw the official coin medal department of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. Zerbe aslso served as president of the American Numismatic Association. Examples include the $50 Gold "California Slug" and the Brasher Doubloon, as well as privately issued or Territorial gold coins issued in Colorado and Utah.
