Spine backstrip is missing large pieces from the ends. Only fragments of spine label remain. Covers have staining to the lower margins, heavy wear to the outer corners, and slight edge wear. There are an additional 16 bw plates. (Not known if they are complete since there is no list). Ink note on page 112. Fairly clean tight text but with some fairly noticeable spotting in places. In a likely contemporary half leather and marbled boards binding. Spine decorated in gold with a burgundy title label stating simply TIM BOBBIN. Spine presents very well.

A good working copy.

Twenty-seven copper engraved plates along with minor illustrations throughout. Light rubbing to boards, slight offsetting to endpapers, lightest occasional foxing (chiefly confined to endpapers), contents remain overwhelmingly clean and unmarked with tight, sound binding. Overall, very good+. Tim Bobbin (pseudonym for John Collier [1708-1786]) was an early English satirist and caricaturist.
