A lovely copy of this miniature book of values and calculations. Neat and tidy green buckram with gilt titles and price to the front board. All edges gilt. A fractional bumping and rubbing only. Yellow end papers. Title and tables throughout are printed in red and black. Clean, but with a little foxing throughout. Unpaginated, but with collation by number rather than letter. Our copy has 1-83 leaves, so 70 pages. The preface states "This little book has been compiled for the use of Housekeepers, and will be appreciated by all who take an interest in an economical expenditure." Finishes with a page showing avoirdupois weight and long measure. 8.5 cm x 5.5 cm (3¼ by 2¼ inches). We are unable to find this work in WorldCat / FirstSearch, and can only find another copy with one colleague.

Rare possibly unique survival of this miniature ready reckoner with a record of female ownership, probably to a London family of Covent Garden market traders. Miniature format bound in publisher's cloth with gilt lettering, faded and marked but sound. All edges gilt. Pencilled ownership signature of 'Isabelle Levy 1874' to the yellow-coated flyleaf; collates A-Q2 in miniature folio, unpaginated, but 64 pages. Printed in red and black throughout, a couple of short edge tears and pin marks to pages but otherwise a very good copy. We can't locate any institutional holding of this volume. The Levy family of Whitechapel, including several Isabels, is recorded as trading at Covent Garden in oranges and it seems likely that our copy is linked to this family.
