Añadir al carritoPhiladelphia: Published by Sep. Winner, 926 Spring Garden St. [.] Electrotyped by Mackellar, Smiths & Jordan, Philadelphia. Folio. 5, [1] pp. First and final leaf cleanly separated along length of spine; foxing; scattered minor paper defects. Dedicated to "To Master Frank Dixey Winner," this sheet music was performed by Edward F. Dixey, a 19th-century American comic actor associated with blackface minstrelsy and popular theater. Marketed as comic entertainment, the piece reflects minstrel traditions and the racial caricature central to 19th-century American popular culture ("Two little 'Injuns' foolin' with a gun, / One shot t'other, and then there was one. / One little 'Injun' livin' all alone, / He got married and then there was none"). The cover features a silhouetted line of caricatured figures in exaggerated poses, reinforcing harmful stereotypes of Native Americans. Includes six verses and choruses, with an encore. The rear panel advertises additional comic songs published by Septimus Winner of Philadelphia. Dichter & Shapiro p. 135.
