Both volumes have worming: Vol I with holes to foot of spine, trails to final blank and rear endpaper and a single hole to final 100 pages, text is slightly affected to some pages; Vol II with trails to both endpapers and to upper margin of first few pages. Light water stain to some pages in Vol. I. Both volumes have occasional pencilled margin markings. A few marks and holes to rear endpaper in Vol. II. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown endpaper in both volumes. Another owner's name to upper margin of title pages, dated 1808. ESTC: T11017. Overall condition is Very Good Minus. Bound in full calf, with title and design on the spine in gilt; single line rule on the boards. All edges marbled; end papers similarly marbled. Spines a little darkened. Moderate edge wear. Previous owner's neat signature on the title page of volume 1. Another previous owner's signature cut away from a blank end paper in vol. 2, the same end paper removed from vol. 1. Text lightly tanned, with the occasional minor blemish. Hinges and joints very secure. Letters of Junius (or Junius: Stat nominis umbra) is a collection of private and open letters critical of the government of King George III from an anonymous polemicist (Junius) claimed by some to be Philip Francis (although Junius' real identity has never been verified).
