By cattle truck and forced march, he and his friends were taken to a labour camp in northern Yugoslavia where they suffered terrible conditions and treatment. Barney changed their luck by volunteering his group for a work party going to a farming community on the mountainous south-eastern border of Austria. Once there they immersed themselves in the routine of farm life and set about outwitting the local Nazis.…
