Paperback. Condición: Very Good. Jesus Is Our Friend takes the reader on a spiritual journey through creation, life's struggles, life's joys, and Heaven in a concise manner with the words of Jesus as our guide. Carl Butcher grew up in inner city Cleveland. When the author was eleven years old, his father committed suicide. Carl wandered in the wilderness of life through his teenage years, then earned a bachelor's degree of Industrial Engineering and began to climb out of spiritual and financial poverty. What began as Carl Butcher's personal longing to research, analyze, and understand God's Word became a thirty-year endeavor that gave rise to him creating, and now sharing, this insightful, compassionate, and truly eloquent book. Carefully selected scripture presents God's laws and God's guidance to live in joy and righteousness. Bible verses are identified that answer our questions regarding suffering, personal fulfillment, the eternal purpose of life, and our relationships with God. The author's willingness to disclose personal tragedies, mistakes, and triumphs from his life makes Jesus is Our Friend so very readable. Carl Butcher writes from the unique perspective as a common man who found Jesus by perseverance in adversity and in studying the Holy Bible. The author's meticulous and methodical research, along with his heartfelt commentary, has produced extraordinary results. This book presents the teachings of Jesus Christ that prompt faith in God, contentment in your mind, and peace in your soul. The reader does not need prior knowledge of Jesus or knowledge of any theological terminology to understand Jesus Is Our Friend. This book is for those seeking answers to the void deep in their souls.…

Paperback. Condición: Very Good. After hearing people fight over religions, whether God exists, the responsibilities of the church, and the purpose of man. After listening to so many different perspectives, I decided to express a few of my own and share what I believe, personal experiences as to how I feel, what I know, and how I see the truth about life. Who am I? Nobody in particular. Just another one of God's creations who wishes to reach the world with what I believe to be His message to us all. In short, there is only One Christ who came to Earth, hung, bled, and died on a cross to bridge the gap between God and Man that was destroyed because of our disobedience. If we unlearn things the world has taught us and discover what God is teaching us through His Son inside One Body; healing, and restoration exist for all humanity. I was born in a town called Ironton, Ohio. Ironton is a river city in a Tri-state region with two other states; Kentucky and West Virginia. Raised in a large family without a father in the home, I relied on my uncles to fill the void. After reaching the age of responsibility, I followed in their footsteps and joined the military, went to Vietnam, then became an Ohio State Trooper, and later relocated to the State of California. I am currently a die-hard Christian believer who has reaped the benefits of God's favor in my life. After surviving the death of my firstborn, and the loss of my first marriage, God has blessed me in my second marriage of 35 years with a beautiful family, my son from my first marriage, a beautiful daughter from my second marriage, a great son-in-law, and two amazing granddaughters.…

Paperback. Condición: Good. Imagine following Jesus along the road, listening in on his conversations, and gleaning from the lessons he taught in the holy places he traveled. Join author Wayne Stiles as he walks in the steps of Jesus: through Bethlehem, Samaria, Jerusalem, Nazareth, Galilee, and beyond. Hardback. Condición: Good. As Christians become more engaged with the reality of religious pluralism, many find themselves torn between two worthy goals - to be faithful to the lordship of Jesus Christ and to be open generously to possible truths found in other religions. In The First and the Last George Sumner offers a constructive way forward, showing how Christian theology can bring these two goals together. At stake in the current debate over religious pluralism is the issue not only of evangelism and mission but also of the Christian claim to the uniqueness of Jesus Christ. Sumner leads readers through the challenges and possibilities raised by this debate, and he outlines a distinctive new method for assessing from a Christian standpoint the claims and practices of neighboring faiths. The crux of Sumner's approach is what he calls final primacy, a position that (1) sets non-Christian religions in relation to the unique mediating role of Jesus Christ and (2) relates the truth claims of other religions to the overall scheme of grace. Sumner goes on to demonstrate the effectiveness of this position in practical terms, using final primacy as a frame of reference for a number of twentieth-century theologies - namely, those of Barth, Rahner, and Pannenberg - and as a way of examining both Indian and African theologies against their respective backgrounds of Hinduism and tribal practices. Additionally, the book serves as an excellent introduction to the history of interfaith thought: Sumner both surveys how religious pluralism has been handled in the past and illustrates how the position of final primacy at once redefines and promotes its most pressing issue - interreligious dialogue. A provocative approach to religious pluralism sure to stir widespread discussion, The First and the Last provides valuable reading for anyone interested in theology, interfaith dialogue, and missions.…

Paperback. Condición: Good. The Three Messiahs explains how a Jewish Messianic figure was transformed into Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God. From the writings of the Jewish historian, Josephus, Judas the Galilean was the only Messiah figure who matched the mythical Jesus of Nazareth in word and deed. Judas the Galilean preached a nationalistic message which pitted his followers against Herod the Great and Rome. Judas cleansed the Temple, was involved in a Barabbas-style prisoner release and led a tax revolt. His exploits were absorbed into the story of Jesus, who also cleansed the Temple, was involved in the Barabbas prisoner release and was arrested for his refusal to pay taxes to Rome. To many Jews, Judas the Galilean was a failed Messiah. His followers, however, kept him relevant through the concept of bodily resurrection. They believed he would return and defeat the Romans. Paul accepted the resurrection but developed his own interpretation based upon personal revelations. His Messiah had nothing to do with Jewish politics but was a redeemer for all mankind. Paul's theology became the bridge between the historical Judas the Galilean and the mythical Jesus of Nazareth. With the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE, Paul's salvation theology soon replaced the Jewish nationalistic teachings of Judas. Within decades, Josephus' historical Judas the Galilean was replaced with the Gospels' Jesus of Nazareth.…

In this exciting book, Paula Fredriksen explains the variety of New Testament images of Jesus by exploring the ways that the new Christian communities interpreted his mission and message in light of the delay of the Kingdom he had preached.
