Spines are faded with bumped ends. Some volumes have small pencil-written numbers on the rear pastedown. The outer bottom edge of the textblock has some soiling from standing on a shelf. Bindings are firm. Pages are age-toned, clean, and unmarked. Volumes are 7 3/4" tall. Check notes to individual volumes. The lot includes: The Origin of Species (2 volumes) by Charles Darwin. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good - Cash. No Jacket. All 15 volumes have been signed by Charles R. Mabey (former Govenor of Utah). No date stated in the print, but Gov. Mabey has dated them 2-28-1910. The set is missing 'Other Worlds Than Ours' by Richard Proctor'. Maroon leather on the spine and in the corners of the cover, with maroon, gold and salmon marbling as the cover. Beautiful gold lettering and detailing to the spine. All volumes have general surface and edge wear. All volumes have chipping to the marble covers (mainly on the bottom edges with a few acceptions chipping in the corners of the covers as well). All pages show reader wear. Bindings are all tight and pages are secure. 'Education', both volumes of 'The Evolution of Man', 'The Ancient Life-History of the Earth', 'Man's Place in Nature', 'The Sun', 'The Descent of Man', and the first volume of 'The Origin of Species' have cracks in their spines. 'Education' and both volumes of 'The Evolution of Man' have light soiling to the top corners of the pages. Both volumes of 'The Evolution of Man', 'Man's Place in Nature', and 'The Culture Demanded by Modern Life' have notations and underlining. 'Sound' has waving to the first endpage. It also has cracking in the gutter of the front cover. 'Education' has a small piece on the back cover that's rubbed away. Page 175/176 of 'Man and the Glacial Period' has a tear and a missing piece. Between pages 174-175 of 'The Evolutions of Man' Vol. 2, the netting is beginning to show. On page 359/360 of 'The Ancient Life-History of the Earth', there is a small tear and missing piece in the bottom corner. A few of the pages have creases. Pages 237-240 of 'The Sun' have a small tears. The netting is also beginning to show between pages 224-225. In 'The Descent of Man', there are small tears on pages 105-112. There's also light creasing to the spine. The netting is beginning to show between pages 118-119 of Vol. 1 of 'The Origin of Species'. Stock photos may not look exactly like the book.
