Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book introduces an improved tree valuation system designed to estimate the selling value or volume of western white pine sawtimber. It presents a method that is faster, more objective, and more consistent than traditional log grading systems. The system eliminates grouping error, a common issue with discrete log grading approaches, by predicting the value of each tree continuously. Developed through comprehensive research, the system incorporates six measurable characteristics: diameter, height, height to the first limb, largest limb size in the butt log, number of defect-free faces in the butt log, and total tree defect. The book thoroughly explains the development and performance of the system, providing valuable insights for timber appraisers. Overall, this book offers a significant advancement in tree valuation, providing a practical tool for estimating tree selling value and volume in western white pine forests. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
