All are "Reprinted according to the Authorized Version 1611." In original gilt-stamped parchment paper covered boards. The gilt detail in the center of the board covers is unique to each volume. All have an engraved title page, head piece and tail piece by Stephen Gooden, most with tissue-guards. Generally very good or better with sunned spines and extremities, some scuffs and smudges on board panels and bumps on corners. The first volume is the Apocrypha: 1924. 238pp. The colophon states that there were 1250 copies of the Apocrypha, this is number 692. Quires are UNCUT. Genesis to Ruth: 1925. 328pp. Bookplate on front pastedown. Small bookseller's label on the back paste down, "The Chaucer Head Bookshop." Samuel to Psalms: 1925. 418pp. Bump to head of board spine creating 1/2" vertical cracks down both spine folds. Lesser bump at foot of spine with a 1/4" vertical crack at the back corner. Also adjacent is a 3/6" by 1/8" rectangular hole on the back spine fold. Partially removed bookplate and small bookseller's label on front pastedown. Proverbs to Malachi: 1926. 327pp. Same small bookseller's label on the back paste down, "The Chaucer Head Bookshop." Horizontal crease along uppermost edge at head of spine; Back corner at tail of spine has a 1/2" vertical crack and parallel split on the back corner. Bound in original reversed calf with decorative panels on boards; spine in compartments with raised bands and contrasting maroon morocco title label, gilt. Marbled endpapers. Extremities worn and some water staining at front, including plate margins. Occasional foxing, but otherwise a very good copy. Family register of Medlicott of Hyssington, 1835-85 in manuscript on recto of New Testament frontispiece. Illustrated by 55 engraved plates, including frontispiece, all inscribed Fowler's Family Bible. Decorated by tailpiece vignettes. Large family bible printed and published by John Fowler of Ormskirk. It first appeared in 1807 and was reprinted again in 1810. It was owned by the Welsh border Medlicott family, of Hyssington, Powys. The ten numbered entries in the family register all record ' Christmas at Hyssington.' Entry no. 9 is for George Henry Hyssington (1847-1933).
