This history of the Druse is divided into three main chapters: The first chapter discusses their origins, growth and expansion. A detailed account of the history of their Prince Fakhreddine named the Great and his fall, together with the differences between the Druse and the Maronites. The second chapter discusses how the Druses developed their actual state with a map of their boundaries of their county- The reign of the Prince Melhem II - The people's hatred of the Jews and Turks, their government and their religion condensed in one sentence "No God except God" and where the women's role in society is respected and honoured. The third chapter is on the nature of their trade mostly with Florence, Venice and later Marseille with the inconveniences and the feasibility in expanding their trade, which was mostly based on silk and cotton. Cette secte bâtinide est issue de l'ismaélisme. La transmission de la doctrine, portant principalement sur la métempsycose, se fait au travers de 3 grades initiatiques. Ce dernier aspect a beaucoup fait fantasmer les occidentaux qui y ont vu une sorte de franc-maçonnerie. C.
