Añadir al carritoSilver gel photograph depicting a block of brick buildings surrounded by cobblestone streets in an unknown city. An American flag is hand colored in the center of the photograph. Photograph measures 13 ¼" x 10 ½' and is mounted on grey cardboard which measures 17" x 13 ½". Image was taken in the mid-19th century. Photograph has moderate toning, light silvering and light soiling; mount is chipped on top, right corner, has a 1" tear at top, left corner and has moderate soiling and wear to all edges; blank on verso. This photograph provides a close look at 19th century city structure. A street sign on a lamppost is just visible in the left corner of the photograph, telling that it was taken on the corner of "Harrison Av." A few men and women are depicted standing outside the buildings, and two wagons are parked on the street. The streets are empty, suggesting that this photograph was taken early in the day. Acquired with one other photograph, we know that this block of buildings was warehouse that employed many people. Although little is known on the location and provenance of this photograph it is detailed and intriguing, and leaves the onlooker with a desire to learn more.
