Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. First edition of F. W. Warrick's monumental investigation into psychic phenomena, focusing primarily on the medium Ada Emma Deane and her alleged abilities in direct writing, spirit photography and related manifestations. Richly illustrated throughout with approximately 650 photographs and illustrations. Warrick was a firm believer in the authenticity of Deane's powers, although his conclusions were questioned by leading psychical researchers including Eric Dingwall. An important and fascinating work in the history of psychical research. A particularly well-preserved copy. The pages are bright, clean and well-kept, showing only light age-related wear. There is a neat ownership inscription to the front free endpaper dated 1945. The numerous photographic illustrations are clear and well reproduced throughout. The original boards remain clean and attractive, with only minor marks and light signs of handling. Corners are very lightly bumped, and the binding is firm and tight. The spine is sound and square. An increasingly uncommon title, especially in such pleasing condition. 399 pages. Illustrated throughout with approximately 650 photographs and illustrations. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form part of the description and show the actual book offered for sale. Additional photographs are available on request, and enquiries are always welcome. All images are original and copyrighted ©Tom Heywood Books and are not to be replicated without permission.…
