Glossy pictorial paper covers have light bumping to edges and corners with mild surface and edge wear and light rubbing with some mild color loss along edges and spine; binding firm; interior pages lightly toned but otherwise unmarked. Instructional drawing manual by American artist and illustrator Victor Semon Perard (1870-1957) introducing methods for sketching trees and integrating them into landscape compositions. The book presents step-by-step demonstrations showing how to construct tree forms, analyze branching patterns, and develop naturalistic silhouettes for different species. Early sections explain drawing materials, pencil techniques, and compositional planning, followed by illustrated examples of perspective, outdoor sketching, and landscape arrangement. Numerous diagrams show how tree forms interact with terrain, buildings, and water features, while additional plates identify common tree types including oak, elm, maple, pine, cypress, and willow through simplified structural outlines and finished drawings. Issued as part of the Pitman Art Books instructional series intended for beginning and intermediate art students studying practical drawing methods.
