Presumed First Edn. published in 'Foulsham's cloth-bound pocket library'. âA Dictionary of Dates" is a fascinating volume to have on your shelves. The 'Father' of all such compilations is "Haydn's Dictionary of Dates", now out of print, and one can only marvel at the author's patience and co…urage in putting together such a volume. Naturally, we are indebted to the early volumes of" Haydn ", our own work being largely editorial, together with the task of bringing it reasonably up to date. Here again, no two people would agree as to what should be included, what left out. We have, however, somewhat changed Haydn's method of arrangement, which was purely alphabetical. In the present volume, many cross references will be found, thus retaining the old idea to some extent; but, in addition, all important subjects are arranged in groups. Instead of hunting through the entire book for certain facts relating to the British Constitution, or the great European War, the reader will find these grouped together, and also arranged alphabetically for easy reference. Again, with the Religions of the World - it would take several hours to wade through entire books of reference, in order to trace all these! In this volume they are grouped conveniently under the one heading, and many items are also included that are less directly connected. All this editorial labour results in a volume that makes reference extremely easy. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. 112 pages. Black titles spine & front. light wear to extremities. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 250 grams. Category: Reference; Historical Dates; Religions; First World War; History. Inventory No: 5049. Hardcover (Original Green Cloth).
