Hinges exposed, pastedowns sprung, loss to lower corner of terminal leaf, one leaf torn away. A mid-eighteenth-century manuscript, in a single legible hand, comprised of notes on a plethora of heterogenous topics, alphabetically arranged; compiled by Thomas Porter, seemingly commenced whilst studying at Glasgow College 1736-7 and continued whilst serving as a Curate at Hoole, Lancashire, between 1740 and 1747. The diverse subjects examined include 'Circumcision', 'Desire', 'Glocestershire', and 'Hair'. The alphabetical assortment is at one point interrupted by a list of marriages and burials over which porter presided, along with the amount charged for conducting each. Size: 12mo.
