Añadir al carritoOriginal Brown Ribbed Cloth. Condición: General Cover Wear. No Jacket. First Edition. Rebacked with original spine laid-down. New endpapers. Gilt winner's cup on front cover remains bright. Elaborately-engraved title-page is browned and heavily foxed. Date on spine is "1841", with no date on title-page. We have seen the 1843 edi…tion called the second edition, thus we are calling this a first edition--although we have also seen a copy possibly dated "1840". This copyhas a total of sixty-five illustrations; 36 full-page steel engravings of great racehorses, 10 full-page plates of prominent racing ghentlemen, and 19 textual wood-cuts. Cololated complete. Some plates are foxed at margins, never heavy. Several tissue-guards remain. Covers are worn at edges and faded. BUT it is rare indeed to find this volume in its original binding, most having been rebound. 271pp. + 8 pages of adverts. Wildrake was the pseudonym for George Tattersall (1817-1849) of the famous London racing family. He was a sporting artist and architect. Size: Large Octavo.
