He established America's first society for the Hebrew language, the Shocharei Sfat Ever (Merchants of the Hebrew Language) and was also the first to translate into Hebrew and Yiddish the Constitution of the United States. He is best known for his series of Ozar anthologies on various topics relating to the Bible, Talmud and Jewish history. In addition to this, he authored over 150 articles for the Jewish encyclopedia.
