Añadir al carritocloth. large 12mo. cloth. xiv (iv), 213+(1) pages. First edition. Covers rubbed, else a near fine copy. Printed in typescript. The checklist has 338 entries organized by year, and includes reprinted native works and foreign fiction in translation. After the major novels of Richardson, Fielding, and Smolett, there were the works of a few lesser contemporaries like Eliza Haywood, Sarah Fielding, and Mary Collyer, translations from foreign novelists such as Cervantes and Prevost, and a mass of narratives whose authors "yielded to popular prejudice and denied their fictional nature, falsely protesting their 'truth' instead." Brief descriptive annotations are attached to most entries.
