NOTE: The photos you can access with this listing are of the actual book you will be sent; please examine them closely as they provide the best indication of condition. Scarce book in any edition. This is copy number 147 of only 250 offered for sale in this format. Includes a facsimile of the original title page for the 1831 edition. The book is bound in sturdy, deep red, heavy-duty cloth-covered boards with clean, bright embossed gilt lettering and decorative Indian war shield and teepees on the front in gilt, and with very lightly, just occasionally rubbed, still bright gilt lettering on the spine. The top exterior page edges are gilt. The book has no significant flaws, shows at most only very brief, extremely occasional, quite minor signs of any use or age (faint toning to the pages, scattered light foxing on blank end-pages). The sturdy cloth binding shows almost no wear at all, and looks nearly as crisp and fresh as new. The book is exceedingly clean and stain-free, square and straight, still very firm and tight in its binding, no pages are loose, torn, folded, or missing. The hinges are sound and undamaged, the corners are sharp and unbumped. The pages are very faintly age-toned, but all are exceedingly clean, stain-free and unsoiled, and all text is sharp and very legible. There is no writing, underlining, highlighting' or markings of any such kind in the book. NO bookplates. The cloth binding is still exceptionally clean and fresh, no tears, no fraying, no wear-throughs, virtually no wear to the cloth at all.
