This book is well layout, simple to understand and great for getting an existing Java developer up to speed with Android's unique application model - without spending hundreds of hours banging your head against the Google documentation. Not only that but I noticed a (pretty minor) error in my printing and got a 6 month subscription to the CommonsWare e-print site - which has given me at least 2 updated versions of the book so far! With code examples online and a writer who's clearly very involved with the Android community - I can't see a reason not to recommend this book to an developer with experience of Java. However, if you don't fall into that category - I would suggest getting some experience with Java first (there are plenty of books which can help there) - before getting hold of this book.
