Redwood City, CA: Communits Party, San Mateo County, [1946]. 8.5 x 11 in. mimeographed leaflet. This handbill notifies readers of an arson crime against an African-American W.W.II veteran, John T. Walker. "In Redwood City around 4 o'clock beonthe morning of December 6th, before it was light, cowardly carriers of degrading race hatred burned to the foundation the almost complete home of Pacific veteran John T. Walker!" The handbill goes on to argue that the incident should awaken local residents--no matter race or religion--to the growing power of "pro-fascist forces," and calls upon them to urge law agencies to conduct a thorough investigation. Very good condition. Evenly toned, horizontal fold crease. A fine piece of history documenting Communist activism in post-war America, before the height of the Cold War.
