Durch genetische Bedingungen geformt, verändern wir uns im Wandel der Zeit durch äußere Einflüsse.Gegenstand der wissenschaftlichen Betrachtung sind in der Praxis beobachtete unterschiedliche Lebensgeschichten und deren Ausprägungen, Begegnungen mit Menschen mit dem Gefühl, dass die Gesellschaft Rechenschaft erwartet, durch wachsenden Frust unserer Gemeinschaft auf das gesellschaftlich stigmatisierte Denken, Leben und Handeln, vermisste Autonomie, erlebte Kulturunterschiede und beobachtete seelische Defizite in diversen Praktika. So entstand meine Motivation eine Hausarbeit zum Thema 'Body-Modifications als Zeichen des Lebensbewusstseins und der Rebellion' zu schreiben.Im Verlauf meiner Arbeit möchte ich mich mit dem schon oft wissenschaftlich (z.B. Kasten) sowie tiefenpsychologisch (z.B. Freud) betrachteten Body-Modifications im Allgemeinen und deren mögliche Motive beschäftigen. Ich möchte die Frage klären, ob Body-Modifications eine bewusste Rebellion der heranwachsenden Gesellschaft, eine Antwort auf unsere immer leistungsorientiertere und einseitiger denkende Gesellschaft sind und wie sie wirken.Im Kapitel 2 möchte benennen, was man unter dem Begriff 'Body - Modification versteht und die wie der Begriff entstand. Kapitel 3 soll Formen und Motive aufzeigen und im Kapitel 4 möchte ich speziellen Bezug auf Magersucht als eine Form der Body-Modifications am Beispiel von Lena S. nehmen. Ich hoffe anhand von Lena S. aus systemtheoretischer Sicht sowie psychoanalytisch betrachtet, die Entstehung von Rebellion und Gefahren von daraus resultierenden Süchten analysieren zu können.

Anschließend werden die verschiedenen Formen von Body Modification vorgestellt und daraufhin die Beweggründe zum Entscheiden für die Körperkunst diskutiert. Im dritten Kapitel wird ein besonderer Blick auf die Rolle der Haut, die als Oberfläche bzw. Träger bei der Body Modification dient, geworfen.Das vierte Kapitel beschäftigt sich hiernach mit dem Bereich der Subkulturen, in denen Body Modification eine gewichtige Rolle spielt. Dies wird anhand von zwei Fallbeispielen aus dem Musikbereich, den Genres Hardcore und Gothic, veranschaulicht. Beide Subkulturen zeichnen sich dadurch aus, dass ihre Anhänger nicht nur ausschließlich die Musik konsumieren, sondern auch andere Themen in der jeweiligen Subkultur von großer Bedeutung sind, unter anderem Body Modification. Nachdem ein kurzer Überblick über die Geschichte der jeweiligen Musikrichtung gegeben wurde, soll der Fokus darauf liegen, herauszuarbeiten, welche Formen der Body Modification in diesen Szenen angewendet werden und was die Beweggründe dafür sind. Anschließend werden Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede im Hardcore- und Gothic-Genre aufgezeigt. Letztendlich soll im fünften Kapitel ein Blick auf aktuelle Trends und zukünftige Möglichkeiten, die das Feld der Body Modification bieten könnte, geworfen werden, bevor die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse im sechsten Kapitel als Fazit zusammengefasst werden.
